Business Competitiveness Program

Applications are now open for round one of the Victorian Government’s Business Competitiveness Program.

As part of the new Manufacturing and Industry Development Fund, the program is helping to create local jobs and improve international competitiveness by backing Victorian manufacturers to expand their operations and implement new technologies and processes.

Grants of up to 33 per cent of eligible project expenditure, up to a maximum grant amount of $500,000, will be allocated on a competitive basis for projects to be completed within 18 months of receiving the grant.

Eligible projects include the purchase and commissioning of capital equipment, manufacturing product and process improvements, prototyping, evaluation and testing of new products and processes, and supply chain capability development. Applications are open for the Great South Coast Agrifood Evolution Program, a 12 week Seeds of Growth course that will equip you with the foundational skills and tools to transform your ideas into revenue generating business.

Agri-food is the heart of the Great South Coast Victoria region and has been identified as one of the key long-term growth sectors promoting the region as a regional centre of excellence for food production. This program is about exploring, enhancing and capitalising on the potential of the region as a diverse food production region by building capacity in its agri-food entrepreneurs.

This initiative, proudly supported by Council and other GSC Councils in partnership Food Innovation Australia Limited, Beanstalk, Wimmera Development Association, offers weekly masterclass workshops, mentoring and networking to help advance your business.

The Primary Producer Knowledge Network (PPKN) Campfire platform is set to launch soon and we need your help to ignite it.⁠

One hour to attend a fun, interactive online information session followed by as little or as much time as you can give.⁠

What is involved?⁠
⁠We’ll provide you with Campfire training and a communications pack and then ask you to spread the word about Campfire. Some examples of how you can be a Campfire Community Champion include:⁠
– ‘Campfire chat’ – a short conversation informing someone about Campfire⁠
– ‘Cuppa around the Campfire’ – sitting down with a friend and helping them access Campfire⁠
– ‘Campfire on the Grapevine’ – distributing flyers to your email list or passing on a media release to your local newspaper⁠
– ‘Pop-up Campfire’ – organising a community gathering that our team can attend and demonstrate the Campfire platform ⁠

South West Emerging Leaders – applications now open

South West Emerging Leaders is a leadership and personal development program for Year 11 students living in the Shires of Moyne or Corangamite or the City of Warrnambool.

Participation is free, thanks to the generous support of regional businesses and philanthropic organisations.

Over the course of eight months, students take part in a series of online and face-to-face activities focusing on topics such as:

  • self-leadership and leading when you’re not in charge
  • mindset and motivation
  • health, mind and happiness
  • the future of work in the Great South Coast
  • confidence and public speaking
  • … and much more.

In addition, participants are matched with an industry-based mentor for the duration of the program.

Selection is based on attitude and willingness to commit to the program. No prior leadership experience needed.

The NCFH is currently one year into a 2.5-year project (Primary Producer Knowledge Network). The project aims to prevent mental injury for primary producers (including farmers and fishers) by changing workplace culture and practices. We require a Project Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, implementation, execution and completion of the project—ensuring consistency with the project governance framework, organisational strategy, commitments and goals.
